Buckingham Module Coding

The Buckingham module code system permits flexible evaluations of the quality of the learning experience. There are various types of assessments, based on the nature and function of the course. It also allows for special circumstances that affect the final grade. But, it cannot be applied to courses that are at the 1000 or 2000 level or are part of the BA International Honours programme. If a course earns passing grades students are able to keep their credit. They will not be considered in the calculation for the degree classification. However when a student fails the course and is not able to pass, they will be given the opportunity for further assessment. In these cases the second attempt will be regarded as the first.

S-coding

S-coding allows for allowance of certain circumstances that could affect the final grade of a student. However, this method is not able to be utilized for modules that are at 1000 or 2000 levels, or for modules on the BA International Honours programme. A student who gets an acceptable grade on the course is able to keep the credit, however the outcome is not included in their degree classification. If a student is awarded failing marks and is given a second opportunity to reassess their module. The second assessment is considered to be the first attempt.

Special circumstances
