An SBS documentary about World War II has been found to have breached the SBS Code of Practice, an investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has found.
The show, titled Hitler's Last Year, was classified by SBS with a PG rating - meaning parental guidance is advised - and was broadcast at 5.30pm on 20 March 2021.
However, reported on Wednesday that the ACMA found the broadcast 'may have been disturbing to some children' as it 'exceeded PG requirements' for mild depictions of violence.

ACMA chair Nerida O'Loughlin said: 'The classification system is an important guide for the public so they can make informed decisions about whether a program is suitable viewing for them.'
Ms O'Loughlin added that because SBS classified the documentary as PG, it was able to be broadcast at any time in the day.

Under classification guidelines, a PG rating means a program may contain disturbing themes and some violence, but they should be mild in impact and not detailed.
Ms O'Loughlin added: 'While the documentary by virtue of its topic is distressing and has educational merit for children and adults alike, the depictions of violence and treatment of themes in the documentary that went to air went beyond what can be accommodated under the PG classification category.'
Following the investigation, SBS will now include their findings in staff training so they can explore ways of making better decisions about audiences when dealing with historical content.
